Creator Agreement
The extra terms for creators who host and sell courses on Bitty Course: plans, fees, payments, refunds, tax, student data and ending.
Version November 04, 2026
Draft: this document hasn’t been reviewed by a lawyer yet and will change before Bitty Course launches.
This agreement applies when you create a workspace to host or sell courses. It adds to the Terms of Service; if they conflict, this agreement wins for creators. "You" means the creator, or the business the workspace is for, and you confirm that you act in the course of a trade, business or profession. You must be based in the United States, with a US Stripe account, and sell to students in the US. You must show your legal name and contact details on your course site.
Plans and fees
- Plans are Free, Starter and Plus, at the prices and with the limits and features shown on the pricing page when you choose or change a plan.
- Renewal: paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe and renew each month until you cancel. We show the price and how to cancel before you subscribe, and confirm by email.
- Cancelling: cancel any time in Settings → Plan & billing. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Monthly fees already charged aren't refunded unless the law requires it.
- Saved card: every workspace, Free included, saves a card with Stripe before the studio opens. No charge is made for saving it, and the Free plan has no subscription fee. We use it for a paid plan or add-on only after you choose one.
- Platform share: on the Free plan, Bitty Course keeps 10% of each course sale, collected through Stripe at the time of sale. Paid plans take no share of sales.
- Usage limits: each plan includes stored video hours and monthly viewing hours. We email you at 80% and 100% of the viewing allowance and allow 10% over before new playback pauses until the next month or an upgrade. Paid add-ons, such as caption translation or AI dubbing, are charged as shown before you use them.
- Price changes: we'll email you 30 days before a plan price or the platform share goes up. If you don't agree, you can cancel before then.
- Tax on your plan: plan prices don't include tax. We add sales tax where we have to collect it.
You are the seller
You sell your courses to your students; we provide the software you sell with. You are the seller, and Bitty Course isn't a party to your sales.
That makes you responsible for your sale terms and refund policy, for telling students what they're buying and who from, and for meeting the consumer law that applies to your students. Our tools can help, but we don't promise that they satisfy every state's law.
Payments through Stripe
Payment processing for creators is provided by Stripe. By connecting a Stripe account you agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Services Agreement, as Stripe changes them from time to time. This agreement is the agreement with your platform that Stripe's terms refer to. You'll give us accurate and complete information about you and your business, and you allow us to share it, and transaction information about your use of Stripe, with Stripe. Disputes about Stripe's services are between you and Stripe.
Stripe charges its fees to your account, pays you out directly, and holds you responsible for refunds and chargebacks. You handle dispute evidence and any dispute fees, and we have no duty to respond to disputes for you. If a loss from your sales ever falls on us, you'll repay it.
Refunds
You set your refund policy and show it to students before they buy, and you fund every refund.
Refunds you issue from the studio are processed by Stripe from your account. On the Free plan, a full refund made from the studio also returns Bitty Course's share. A partial refund, a refund you make directly in your Stripe Dashboard, or a lost dispute doesn't return it.
Tax on your sales
You alone are responsible for working out, collecting, reporting and paying any tax on your course sales, such as state and local sales tax. We don't give tax advice, and you should ask an accountant what applies to you.
Some states tax online courses, and some require you to register once your sales there pass a threshold. You can turn on Stripe Tax in Settings → Payments after setting it up on your Stripe account. It works out tax only where you've registered, and if it's off, nothing is collected. Filing and paying remain your job.
You'll cover any tax, interest or penalty assessed on us because of your sales. If tax rules or an authority require it, we may on notice change how sales flow, collect tax, or stop sales in a state, and we may share sales data with authorities where the law requires. Stripe, not Bitty Course, handles any payment reporting forms it is required to issue on your account.
Prices and offers
You're responsible for your pricing claims. A former price must be one you genuinely charged, a sale that ends must really end, and scarcity must be real. We may remove claims that look misleading.
Your courses
- You own your courses and are responsible for them. You promise that you have the rights to everything you upload, and that it's accurate, lawful and within the acceptable use rules in the Terms.
- Don't promise income or results you can't back up, use testimonials that aren't genuine, or use high-pressure sales tactics.
- Courses directed at children under 13 aren't allowed. Any license you need to offer your course is yours to get.
- If you promise "lifetime access", define it on your sales page: it can only last as long as your course and workspace are active on Bitty Course.
- We may show your site name and logo as a customer of Bitty Course. Tell us not to and we'll stop within 30 days. We won't use your course content in our marketing without your consent, and we don't sell or distribute your courses through any other channel or affiliate program.
Suspension and termination
We may restrict or suspend your course site, payments or workspace for a breach of the law, these terms or the acceptable use rules; for fraud, abusive chargebacks or a risk to students, us or others; for non-payment; or if Stripe restricts your account. We may also end accounts that have long been inactive.
We'll send you the reasons when a restriction takes effect at the latest. To end your workspace altogether we'll give at least 30 days' notice with reasons, unless the law requires otherwise or you have repeatedly broken these terms. You can respond by replying or writing to support@bittycourse.com, and we'll review it and reinstate access if we got it wrong.
Your team
You're responsible for the people you add to your workspace and what they do. Owners control billing, payments, exports and team membership.
Cancelling and your data
- You can export your courses, students and orders at any time from Settings.
- After cancelling there is a 30-day grace period: students keep access, nobody new can enroll, and your workspace is read-only. After that, your course site goes offline.
- We keep your workspace data after that so you can come back. To have it deleted, write to support@bittycourse.com and we'll delete it within 30 days.
- Before cancelling, tell your students. Your access promises to them are yours to keep.
Liability and indemnity
The liability section of the Terms applies, on its business terms. You'll cover our reasonable losses and costs from claims about your content, your sales, your duties to students as the seller, tax on your sales, and your breach of this agreement.
Changes
We'll email you about material changes to this agreement at least 30 days before they apply, with reasons. If you don't agree, you can export your data and cancel before then. Changes to the data processing terms below work the same way.
Annex: Data Processing Addendum
This addendum applies where we handle personal data on your behalf, as your service provider under US state privacy laws. The Privacy Policy explains which activities that covers, and what we are responsible for ourselves. Accepting the Creator Agreement accepts this addendum.
Your instructions. We process this data only on your documented instructions, unless the law requires otherwise, in which case we'll tell you first if we can. These terms and your use of the product are your instructions, including these standing ones: students have one account across course sites; a student may delete that account, which ends their access and removes their data as the Privacy Policy describes; and orders are kept with identifying details removed, so that you can meet your tax duties. We'll tell you if we think an instruction breaks the law.
You are responsible for having a lawful basis, for giving students your own privacy notice, and for what you do with data you export.
Confidentiality and security. People who process this data are bound to keep it confidential. We apply the measures in Part 2 below.
Sub-processors. You authorize the providers in Part 3. We bind them to equivalent data protection terms and remain responsible for them. We'll email account owners 30 days before adding or replacing one. If you object on reasonable data protection grounds and we can't resolve it, you may cancel before the change and we'll refund any prepaid fees for the remaining period.
Helping you. We'll help you answer requests from students and meet your security, breach and regulator duties, as far as is reasonable given what we process. We'll tell you without undue delay after we become aware of a personal data breach affecting this data.
Ending. When you leave, you can export your data. If you ask us to delete it, we'll do so within 30 days, as the Cancelling section says, unless the law requires us to keep it. Backups expire within 30 days after that.
Audits. We'll give you the information you need to show compliance with these terms, and allow reasonable audits on reasonable notice, once a year unless a regulator requires more.
Limits on use. We don't sell or share this data, or use it outside our work for you, except as the law allows.
Part 1: The processing
- Business: you. Service provider: Bitty Course.
- Subject matter and purpose: hosting and running your course site and studio.
- Duration: as long as your workspace exists, then until deleted as above.
- People: your students and people who contact you through the service.
- Data: names, email addresses, enrollments, tier, lesson progress and watch time, quiz answers and scores, certificates, comments, reviews, messages, and orders. Courses shouldn't be designed to collect sensitive data, but a course's subject can itself suggest something sensitive about a student.
Part 2: Security measures
Encrypted connections; passwords stored only as secure hashes; one-time sign-in codes; optional two-step sign-in; every record scoped to its workspace, with tests of that isolation; access checks on the server before video, files and comments; short-lived playback links; a private file bucket; encrypted database backups; rate limiting.
Part 3: Sub-processors
| Provider | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Hetzner Online | Servers and database | Finland |
| Backblaze | File storage and encrypted backups | United States |
| Bunny.net | Video storage, encoding and delivery | Global network |
| Postmark (ActiveCampaign) | Sending email | United States |
| Cloudflare | Domain name service and email forwarding | Global network |
| OpenAI | Captions, when you turn them on | United States |
| Anthropic | Translation and drafting, when you use them | United States |
| ElevenLabs | AI dubbing, when you use it | United States |
Stripe processes payments on your own Stripe account under your own agreement with Stripe, so it isn't our sub-processor for your sales.
