Workspace

Settings and export

What each workspace settings page controls, how to download your data export, and what happens when you cancel.

View as Markdown

Workspace settings cover everything that applies to all your courses: brand, course site, domains, payments, AI assistant tokens, team and plan. Click Settings in the studio sidebar. Owners can change settings; editors can open the pages, but most controls are disabled or hidden for them.

More detail:

Settings for a single course (price, access, comments, cover, embed domains, search) are on the course's Details tab, not here. See Courses.

Your course address

Your hosted address uses the subdomain you chose when you created the workspace (Course address). It can contain lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens. There's no setting to change it afterwards. To use a different address, connect a custom domain. See Custom domains.

Download your data

Owners can download everything about the workspace's courses as one JSON file.

  1. Go to Settings → Plan & billing.
  2. Under Export, click Download export.

The file is named like bittycourse-yoursubdomain-2026-10-26.json. It contains:

  • Workspace: name, subdomain and plan.
  • Each course: title, link name (slug), description, status, access mode, price and currency.
  • Sections and lessons: titles, descriptions, free preview flags and lesson notes as HTML.
  • Videos: every kept version of each lesson's video, with its version number, status, whether it's live, original filename, duration, and the video service's ID for it.
  • Attachments: title, filename and size of each file.
  • Quizzes: pass mark, draft questions, the published version's questions and answers, and every attempt (student email, score, passed, when).
  • Students: each enrollment's email, status, how they joined and when access was granted.
  • Orders: email, status, amount, currency, and paid and refunded dates.

Not in the export:

  • Video files. The export lists each kept version with its video service ID so the files can be retrieved separately.
  • Attachment files themselves, caption files, comments, lesson progress, discounts, analytics, and brand or site settings.

The export contains student email addresses, so only owners can download it, and it's never cached. Editors don't see the button.

For spreadsheets instead, owners can use Export CSV on a course's Students tab or Sales CSV on the Analytics page. See Students and Analytics.

Cancel your subscription

Owners can cancel from Settings → Plan & billing:

  1. Under Cancel subscription, click Cancel subscription.
  2. Confirm: "Cancel? Students keep access for 30 days, then courses go offline."

What happens:

  • For 30 days (the grace period): enrolled students keep watching, but nobody new can buy or enroll: course pages show Enrollment closed instead of the buy or enroll button. The workspace is read-only for you and your team: you can't create or edit courses, lessons or settings, upload, publish, create or change discounts, add students, add custom domains, connect Stripe or change plan. You can still view everything, download the export, unpublish courses, remove or restore a student's access, issue refunds, and reply to and moderate comments. The Plan & billing page shows the date the grace period ends.
  • After 30 days: the workspace is suspended. Your course site shows "These courses are currently unavailable" and "[your name]'s course site is offline. If you bought a course, please contact them directly." Lessons no longer play and weekly summaries stop.

The page also warns: "Lifetime access" you sold to students depends on an active workspace. Bitty Course can't host it unpaid indefinitely. Use the grace period to export your data and tell your students.

Reactivate

On Settings → Plan & billing, an owner clicks Reactivate. Editing comes back straight away, and if the site had gone offline, it serves students again.

Good to know

  • There's no way to delete a workspace from the studio.
  • Moving to a smaller plan never deletes or unpublishes anything. If the workspace is over the smaller plan's limits, Plan & billing says what to change first, for example "Unpublish courses until 1 is published" or "Remove your custom domains". See Plans and usage.
  • Owners on the Free plan can't turn off the "Course hosting by Bitty Course" credit. See Branding.
